Sport Leadership & Culture
Born in Perth/Boorloo and raised in Fremantle/Walyalup to a mix of Fijian and Pakistani parents, Abid Imam always had a cricket bat or soccer ball close by. His upbringing in this environment translates to an immense passion for all things sport & culture.
Abid has been immersed in sport management leadership roles within football, athletics and gymnastics for the past 15 years. This has enabled him to travel and work extensively throughout Western Australia to achieve outcomes for communities.
As a sports connoisseur, Abid has also traversed the globe working on and attending major events such as the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Brazil, Russia and Qatar, Rio Olympic Games, Ashes cricket in England and, most recently, the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023.

Through his enjoyment for interacting with people and getting on the mic, Abid begun the Road to Rio podcast interviewing Australian Olympians and Paralympians from various disciplines prior to the Rio 2016 Games. Abid has continued podcasting through a new show called Freo de Janeiro which delivers entertaining and powerful conversations with a diverse range of exceptional people.
Abid also enjoys expressing his personality and public speaking skills for sports industry events. Highlights include being an MC for Perth Glory, SportWest and Football West, professional soccer panellist for 91.3 SportFM, trackside commentator with Little Athletics Australia and the master of ceremonies for Gymnastics WA's Awards Nights.
